The Setup
Osborne High is under siege. A masked killer is exposing students’ darkest secrets before murdering them in brutal, theatrical fashion. The town is gripped by fear, and the friend group at the center—Makani, Alex, Darby, Rodrigo, and Zach—must confront their own pasts while trying to stay alive.
But this isn’t just a slasher—it’s a reckoning. And at the heart of it are two Black girls who refuse to be defined by shame or silence: Makani Young and Alex Crisp.

The Survivors: Makani & Alex
Makani Young (Sydney Park) is quiet, guarded, and carrying a secret that could destroy her. She’s biracial—Black and Hawaiian—and new to town, already marked as an outsider. When the killer targets her, she doesn’t run. She fights. She survives.
Alex Crisp (Asjha Cooper) is sharp, loyal, and unfiltered. She doesn’t shrink when things get tense—she speaks up, calls out hypocrisy, and protects her people. She never turns on Makani, even when secrets surface. She survives too.
Together, they represent two kinds of survival:
* Makani survives by facing her past and reclaiming her name.
* Alex survives by standing firm in her truth and refusing to let fear rewrite her story.
Why It Matters
* Black Girl Survival in 2021: In a genre that still sidelines Black women, Makani and Alex both make it to the end. That’s legacy.
* Friendship as Resistance: Their bond is unshaken. Loyalty becomes armor.
* Emotional Survival: Makani’s arc is about healing. Alex’s is about defiance. Both are about power.
* Nuanced Representation: Makani’s biracial identity adds depth. Alex’s boldness adds fire. Together, they break the mold.
The Legacy Moment
In the final showdown, Makani faces the killer head-on. Alex is right there beside her. They don’t just survive—they stand in truth. They walk out of the wreckage with scars, strength, and each other.
Makani and Alex don’t just survive the killer. They survive the shame, the silence, and the system. And that makes them legacy.
Unc Wisdom Closer
“Makani faced her past. Alex faced the town. And when the mask came off, they were still standing. That’s not luck—that’s legacy.
Because survival ain’t just about who dodges the blade—it’s about who walks out whole.
And you already know what that means… Cut the check.”
