Understand that DJT’s Inauguration on MLK Day 2025 is something only a God with a fantastic sense of humor could put together. The anticipation of this day has put me in a bit of a funk. Understand that I have spent my life being the voice of the underrepresented.
Growing up, I was a high-achieving student. As the only Black male in most classes, I often experienced a different atmosphere from most friends. That trend continued in the military, college, and even my career. What kept me grounded was my empathy and compassion.
I spent most of my days not trying to change people’s views but trying to understand them. Once you know people, finding what you have in common is more straightforward than what divides you. My timeline has been full of MAGA and anti-MAGA talking points, but in the end, none of those things truly matter to me.

We are controlled by what others think is essential. Posts about the TikTok ban flooded social media. I have two highly engaged teenagers, and none acknowledged the ban. It could have been because the ban was so short, and we have had power outages longer than that, or it could have been because life kept moving without an app.
Last week, the news networks kept discussing DJT’s cabinet picks, and specific social media hosts made dozens of videos about their confirmation hearings. For what reason? Will any of these posts change what is already predetermined? No, their job is to divide and distract.
So, I promised myself I would not be bothered by the distraction. I would not let problems that don’t concern me influence my solutions for the rest of my life. I would advise you to do the same. Focus on your family and friends and advance the things you’re genuinely passionate about.

January 20th is not the end of the world; it’s not the end of America as we know it. January 20th is the day I want to remember forever. It will be the day that the Ohio State Buckeyes beat Notre Dame for the National Football Championship as the perfect way to say no matter what Michigan Sucks.
Go Buckeyes, O-H
